Live Action Games:

Poker Ring Games are also known as live action games or cash games. The ring games are played with the help of real money and chips on the present line. There is no predetermined time for the ending of the game. The players have the facility of buying cash, which is outside the ring between the hands. The players are usually not allowed to remove a part of their chips from the playing table. This fundamental of the ring game is called as “going south”.

Difference between Tournament and Ring Games:

A tournament game is played with tournament chips that are of no use outside the tournament, whereas the ring games are played with real time chips. The tournament games have a definite ending time, which is not the case in the ring games. The blind structure of the tournament games increases with the periodic course of the game, while in the ring games, it remains constant. The tournament games follow the predetermined style used in traditional poker, whereas the ring games can follow the house rules and use different types of cards. In ring games, chops and straddles are allowed which is not the case of the tournament games.

Limit and No-Limit Poker Ring Games:

In the limit poker ring games, there is rarely a buy, as the betting limit on every hand is already limited to a certain point. In no-limit ring games, some of the card rooms have a maximum buying for the players.
